NCC to Hold White House Dinner
Northampton Community College (NCC) will hold a White House Dinner, The President’s Table, on Friday, April 25, at Alumni Hall, Gates Center, Main Campus, 3835 Green Pond Road. Cocktails and hors d’oeuvres will be served at 6:00 p.m., and dinner will be served at 7:00 p.m.
The 4-course meal will be prepared by NCC Hampton Winds culinary students and served by hospitality students. Chef John Moeller, who prepared soigné (elegant) cuisine for Presidents, First Families and their guests, will be the guest speaker.
Chef to President George H.W. Bush, Bill Clinton, and George W. Bush, Moeller joined the White House kitchen staff in 1992 as sous chef, eventually appointed as White House chef in 2005. During his tenure, he helped create and prepare meals for the First Families; world leaders including Tony Blair, and Nelson Mandela; famous guests such as Sophia Loren and Julia Child; and for holiday parties, and trips to Camp David.
Moeller grew up in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, and has detailed his White House experiences in a new book, Dining at the White House—From the President’s Table to Yours. He will be available for book signing at the event. The book can be ordered for $35 as part of the event ticket, and will be available for pick-up at the dinner.
In addition to cocktails and hors d’oeuvres, the menu includes:
Shaved asparagus and white truffle salad; a choice of entrée: sous vide filet mignon with chive potato gratin, broccolini, and mustard jus; potato crusted salmon with mushroom quinoa, asparagus, and romesco sauce; roasted free range chicken breast with grape tomatoes, peas, red skin potatoes, and basil balsamic jus; or roasted portobello mushroom timbale with wilted spinach, zucchini, yellow squash, tomato reduction, and fresh ricotta cheese. Dessert will be almond cream tart with lemon mascarpone mousse and fresh berries.
